EnergInno Brazil: International Networking of Research and Industry
German Winners in Green Hydrogen and Biogas Are Now Looking For Brazilian Innovators
The campaign EnergInno Brazil, led by the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, called for scientists and entrepreneurs in Germany to apply with their most innovative ideas in the fields of Green Hydrogen or Biogas. The winners – tandems from research and industry – have now been selected. They will participate in a oneweek Matchmaking Tour to Sao Paulo in May 2022. There, they will meet potential Brazilian partners who are now being sought in a national Call for Innovators. The winning innovators will then be invited to a German R&D Tour this fall. That way, the German and Brazilian participants of EnergInno Brazil can initiate and strengthen a binational network in the field of sustainable energy.
The winners of EnergInno Brazil's Call for Ideas & Innovation have been selected: Five cross-organizational teams from research institutions, universities and representatives of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) or start-ups in Germany have convinced the expert jury. The winners in the category of Biogas are representatives of Aachen University of Applied Sciences together with Bert Energy GmbH and Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics IBP with ALLNET GmbH. In Green Hydrogen, the Research-SME-Tandems are composed as follows: Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation IFF and MicroPro GmbH, Landshut University of Applied Sciences – Technology Center for Energy and MicroPyros BioEnerTec GmbH as well as Aachen University of Applied Sciences and Stadtwerke Bergheim.

Next Step: Brazilian Innovators Wanted for International Networking
These German tandems will now be connected to potential project partners in Brazil. Therefore, throughout February in Brasil, EnergInno Brazil is calling on bright minds from the fields of Green Hydrogen or Biogas – this time in a national call in Brazil. Again, innovations are sought in the application areas of mobility – including road, rail, marine or air transport – and electricity – with a focus on power generation, heating or cooling.
For more information on EnergInno Brazil and to apply, Brazilian innovators from science, research and industry can visit EnergInno Brazil by February 28, 2022: https://www.research-in-germany.org/energinno/call-for-brazilian-innovators
The winners of this call will be invited to a one-week German R&D Tour in November 2022. But first, they will get to know their potential German project partners – the Research-SME-Tandems – at a virtual Pre-Matching on April 26 and then meet in person at the Research2Industry Days in Sao Paulo on May 10 and 11, 2022. This networking event is an essential part of the Matchmakting Tour that will enable the German winners to explore the Brazilian green energy sector. Following this, the Brazilian winners will visit the German research landscape of sustainable energy on November 7-11, 2022.
On this German R&D Tour, the exchange with the German partners can be continued. Furthermore, the Brazilian participants will also experience Germany as a hub for innovation and research by visiting excellent German research institutes, universities and companies in the field of sustainable energy.
EnergInno Brazil
The EnergInno Brazil campaign is conducted by the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft as a constituent component of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research's (BMBF) »Research in Germany« initiative. EnergInno Brazil focuses on small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) and start-ups aiming to connect the Brazilian and German sector of green energy in order to build sustainable networks and initiate collaboration for mutual benefit. EnergInno Brazil is the third of three campaigns within the current phase of »Research in Germany«. Each campaign focuses on different topics and regions.
Research in Germany
The BMBF-initiative »Research in Germany« presents Germany as a country of research and innovation and creates a forum for international exchange and cooperation. »Research in Germany« provides international researchers with information about funding and career opportunities in Germany. The initiative gives research and science organizations from all over the world the chance to establish contact with potential German partners in the fields of science, research and industry.
